On August 11, 2026, Microsoft released KB5120708 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11, version 25H2 and Microsoft server operating system 24H2.
The update is causing printing failures in some Windows 11 and Windows Server business applications that use Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) and the XPS printing system. The underlying issue is not specific to TestWise. Reports from other organisations show the same problem affecting .NET Framework applications, Microsoft is currently investigating the regression.
Removing the offending update restores printing immediately. However, doing so also removes the security protection introduced for CVE-2026-62871. Microsoft states that uninstalling the security update should not be regarded as the long-term workaround. This quick fix will uninstall the problematic update until Microsoft issues a patch.
You must restart the computer after you apply this fix. We recommend that you exit all .NET Framework-based applications before you apply this fix.
